“She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.” Proverbs 31:15
Memories and Experience have for centuries been experienced not on some far away adventure but in the kitchens of our humble dwellings.
Some of my fondest memories were the Sundays that 4 generations of family would all gather at Grandma McFatter’s tiny kitchen for Dinner. Sons and Daughters, dozens of grandchild and great grandchildren would all gather together to celebrate Jesus and the joy of each other’s company around a table full of southern warmth.
She was a born and bred southern cook so the food was of course delicious; but it was the warmth, love, and memories built in that 8 by 8 kitchen that to this day bring comfort and peace to me.
Some of my greatest culinary experiences were cooking lessons at Grandma Dykes (Grams) house. Her kitchen was always filled with something good to eat. She could taste a dish once, go home, recreate it to perfection, then turn around and teach you.
You don’t have to be a chef or even a great cook to create a warm inviting place in the kitchen where your family can build memories. You don’t have to have the big kitchen and all the conveniences that our modern culture says is necessary for a functioning and successful kitchen.
The comfort you originate in your kitchen is created by your love for your family and your courage to try! So lets go to our kitchen and start creating some memories!
