Have Faith in God
Mark 11: 12-14, 11: 19-24
“For Verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith, Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:23-24)
In the days and times we live in, the Saints of God are in need of ever increasing faith; we are in need of knowing who God is! It is God’s design that all His children walk by faith. Romans 10:17 says that “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” No matter the chain that may be wrapped around our ankles, all of God’s children can live by faith. God’s Word is sufficient for all of us, it is what changes the most rotten man or woman into a child of God. His Word is what changes nations and communities.
Is is through God’s Word that we are reborn and given the wonderful key to Salvation. Jesus himself even reminded Satan that “man cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” Too often today the church world teaches that Faith is living on the mountain with the blessings of God or at least moving from the valley to the mountain and seeking the blessings. It teaches that if you have faith then life should always be prosperous and happy. When we are stuck in the valley and life is not happy or prosperous then these teachings can leave us feeling overwhelmed, discontent, and confused.
You see faith is not saying “God I am your child and I know that you are taking me out this valley to the mountain top with showers of physical blessings.” Faith is saying “God you are my peace and joy, and if you chose to leave me in this valley then I will choose to be content because your Word says that you work everything together for the good of those that love you and are called to your purpose. Your word also tells me that in every state, I am to be content not just satisfied, but in a state of peaceful joy.” God tells us that His Word brings us a peace that no man can bring, and that is beyond our comprehension. His peace does not always do away with the offense that is besetting us but it wraps us up and brings a calm to our spirit. I have found that when I am in this state, people looking in from the outside say “how can you be so joyful during such a hard time?”
God’s Word can bring us through the hardest times that life can throw our way. We can build our faith by meditating on his Word day and night. Romans 15:4 says “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” The enemy knows that God’s Word is vital to the victory of our spirit man. Our flesh is our enemy and it will fight us everyday to keep us out of God’s Word, whether it be through our busy schedule or telling us we are not capable of understanding. We in our flesh may not always understand but every Word that God speaks ministers to our spirit and builds us up. We must purpose in these hard times to dig into His Word, to meditate on what we read, and to hide it in our hearts.
